lyrics

We met back in grade 8, remember Mrs. Boyd?/It was so long ago I’ve probably got a polaroid/Here it is! You already had my back back then/Barely met and already best friends/
I was an angry kid, a lot of hate in my heart/A friend was what I needed that would never depart/
From the start set apart, just Stan and me/Wasn’t long ’til we were close as family/
The Phillips family, they saved my life you see/Brucey and wife Arlene took in this wretched teen/They paid for everything, it was life altering/With Jordan and Meggie, extended siblings/
We did everything together, even brought you to youth/Who would ever have thought we’d end up in a booth?/It’s the truth, we always used to talk a big game/Writing lyrics in the back of class, dreaming of fame/
Yeah preaching His name/
Over rhythm and tempo/
Let’s take them back to the day I said let’s go/With me to reach those lost in the game/It was the first time I heard the Lord call my name/Do you remember the day?/
Man, how could I forget?/I didn’t want to say it but it scared me to death/I hadn’t heard the call but I owed you a debt/And I knew if I didn’t go I would be filled with regret/
It was shortly after this when we started to rhyme/For the lost in the streets, man I saw it all the time/Just rapping on the porch with a dream to get out/From slanging crack on the corner and running the route/You weren’t there, but I get it, it wasn’t for you/Pushing Bibles in the shack, but you stayed in the booth/
Man Stan, I didn’t even know all of that/The Westbrook was the closest that I came to the trap/But I remember thinking, yo we must’ve been phat/Cuz we even had gangstas bouncing to Christian rap/
I think I was spending too much time in the trap/With the gangsta’s death threats I thought my life was a wrap/That’s when I met Fresh, remember when I got the call?/
I was chilling’ at Uni, having a ball/Nearly dropped the call, jaw on the floor/
Fresh invited us on tour, Jesus opened the door/In the end you couldn’t come, we discussed our next move/You told me, “You need to go”, I agreed it was true/I thought we would lose our chance to advance/In this industry of ministry I left to enhance/Our role in the scene moving up from bar shows/
Hit the studio today, kill the stage tomorrow/Drop an album in a month? Yeah, we’ll give it some thought/Sixteen tracks? Sure, we’ll give it a shot/January 7th, 2012/Joy Over Sorrow landed on shelves/
This was just the beginning, even though theBRIDGE split/
Collect all six albums, every one is a hit
